Filter Photo Festival

Filter Photo Festival is going online!  Registration for the 2020 Filter Photo Festival opens for Filter Photo Members on July 1 at 9 am CST, and the General Public on July 8, 9 am CST.

Filter Photo Festival is a multi-day celebration of photography that takes place every autumn in Chicago.  The 2020 Festival is September 9 – 13 and will be primarily an online Festival this year due to COVID-19.   Online programming includes workshops, portfolio reviews, lectures, and artist talks.  Additionally, hybrid online and in-person exhibitions will be hosted at Filter Space gallery in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.

Portfolio reviews are a central element of the Festival. During a portfolio review, an artist is able to share work directly with local, national, and international photography professionals, including gallery directors, curators, editors, and publishers. Emerging and established photographers are welcome to sign up for these twenty-minute, one-on-one sessions which will be conducted entirely online in 2020.  More information about preparing for reviews can be found on our FAQ page.

Video footage from the 2018 Festival can be found here.

An important part of the Chicago arts community since 2009, Filter Photo Festival has hosted an impressive roster of established artists and photographers as Festival Keynote Speaker including Joel-Peter Witkin, Penelope Umbrico, Carrie Mae Weems, Mona Kuhn, and John Chiara, among others.

Consider becoming a Member today for access to early registration and a host of other opportunities throughout the year.   Sign up for our mailing list to get programming updates delivered directly to your inbox or email us at info@filterphoto.org.
